Edith Mae Welling, 95
Apr 19, 2018She was born August 1, 1922 in Wolverine, MI to William Warren and Ramsay (McLeod) Warren. She grew up in Northern Michigan with her five siblings. Edith married Earl Welling, the love of her life on August 24th, 1941. She attended County Normal, CMU and MSU; eventually achieving a Masters’ Degree in education. She is survived by her daughter Jean Mortimer; sons, Frank (Sue) and Paul (Judy) Welling; six grandchildren, Tim (Christine) Mortimer, Mollie (Jerry) Pemberton, Sheila Southwell, Amy (Barry) Burgess, Jennifer (Joe) Edwards, and Kyle Welling; six great grandchildren, Ashonte’ and Hunter Burgess, Brenna and Cora Southwell, Melody and Abigail Pemberton; siblings, Rose Jones, Ethel Frazier, Wilma Viau and brother-in-law, Fred Welling; as well as many nephews, nieces and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Ramsay, her husband of 41 years Earl and siblings; Kathryn Harris and Fred Warren. Well into her golden years she continued to enjoy traveling, dancing, socializing, going to the YMCA and most of all her family. A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 17, 2018, 3:00 p.m., Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 East Grand River Avenue, East Lansing. The family will receive friends 1:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider donating to the Library of Michigan Foundation, a non-profit organization which offers financial support to the Braille and Talking Book Library program which provides books for the Blind.
